A credit union is a unique financial institution
Unlike for-profit financial institutions such as banks, credit unions are owned by their members. Our depositors (members) are the actual credit union owners/shareholders. An initial $5 deposit by a member is in fact a purchase of one credit union share, and many credit unions still refer to their member deposits as shares.
- Credit unions are owned and run by its members
- Members elect a non-paid volunteer Board of Directors from within the membership
- With no outside stockholders, all net earnings are paid out to the members in the form of higher interest on savings, lower rates on loans, lower fees, and improved services
Just like other financial institutions, your deposits at Medina County Federal Credit Union are insured. Each account is insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government.
Our philosophy at Medina County Federal Credit Union is “people helping people,” which is evident in our higher deposit rates, lower loan rates and excellent member service. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch products and services to our members, from Savings Accounts to IRA accounts and everything in between.
We will offer our members a full range of financial products at competitive rates and the lowest fees possible without affecting the safety and soundness of the credit union.
