MedFed 2024 Scholarships

Medina County Federal Credit Union invites qualified students to apply for two scholarships each year.

The deadline to apply for these scholarships was Friday, March 8, 2024.
The winners will be announced on or after April 10, 2024.

The Bernard R. Spechalske Scholarship

A $2,000 Scholarship for High School Seniors

The deadline to apply for this scholarship was Friday, March 8, 2024.
The winner of this scholarship will be announced on or after April 10, 2024.

The Board of Directors of the Medina County Federal Credit Union established The Bernard R. Spechalske Scholarship in 1994, in honor, memory, and recognition of Ben’s service to the Medina County Federal Credit Union as a member, director and president.

A $2,000 scholarshipis to the institution of higher education as specified by the scholarship recipient.

Eligibility
• Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible.
• The applicant must be a senior (12th grade status).
• The applicant (or parent, grandparent or guardian) must be a current member of The Medina County Federal Credit Union.
• The applicant must pursue an associate or undergraduate degree in an institution of higher learning.
• The applicant must complete and return the entire scholarship application.
• The applicant must include a transcript of grades and standardized test results (i.e. PSAT, SAT, ACT, Proficiency Tests, etc.) through the junior year plus a copy of the grade cards for the first semester of the senior year.
• At the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, a personal interview may be requested.
• The applicant must use the scholarship during the academic year immediately following the acceptance of the scholarship.

If the scholarship is not used by June 30 of the following year, it will be forfeited.


The Medina County Federal Credit Union Memorial Scholarship

A $2,000 Scholarship for Current Students of College or Other Post High School Education. Please Note: High school seniors are not eligible for this scholarship.

The deadline to apply for this scholarship was Friday, March 8, 2024.
The winner of this scholarship will be announced on or after April 10, 2024.

The Board of Directors of the Medina County Federal Credit Union established The Medina County Federal Credit Union Memorial Scholarship in 2000, in honor, memory, and recognition of those who have dedicated many years of distinguished volunteer service to the credit union.

A $2,000 scholarship will be paid to the institution of higher education as specified by the scholarship recipient.

Eligibility
• Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible.
• The applicant must be a full-time student attending an institution of higher learning (high school seniors are not eligible for this scholarship).
• The applicant must pursue an associate or undergraduate degree in an institution of higher learning. (college, trade school etc.)
• The applicant (or parent, grandparent or guardian) must be a current member of The Medina County Federal Credit Union.
• The applicant must complete and return the entire scholarship application.
• Enclose a transcript from the college/trade school and high school transcript if available.
• At the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, a personal interview may be requested.
• The applicant must use the scholarship during the academic year immediately following the acceptance of the scholarship.

If the scholarship is not used by June 30 of the following year, it will be forfeited.
